About our client

Our client is a 25 year old male with cerebral palsy, living with his family in Tylden, who loves getting out and about for walks and attending scouts meets and scout camps. He enjoys being out and about having picnics and accessing the beach, pool and the trampoline park. Also enjoys visiting the men's shed, being read to and loves music!

About the Role

Our client requires a female disability support worker to support him on achieving his goals and to live his best life. Some of the tasks and functions of the role will include assisting with:

  • In home therapies and exercise
  • Cooking and mealtime preparation
  • Personal care including showering, dressing (for these tasks there will be 2:1 supports with assistance from a family member)
  • Driving the families modified vehicle transporting our client to appointments and to access the community

About you

Ideally you have experience working in the disability sector. You enjoy cooking and outdoor activities and have a full/open drivers licence enabling you to drive the family's modified vehicle.

Demonstrated ability or willingness to learn to support and communicate with individuals who use eye-gaze technology as a method of communication highly advantageous.

You are a caring, empathetic person with a deep understanding of the importance of providing quality support to clients. You pride yourself on well developed communication and relationship building skills as you know that you are a trusted person in our clients' homes.

Key Selection Criteria

You are available to commit to regular shifts throughout the week between the hours of 9am and 3.30pm and have the following compliance documentation:

  • A NDIS worker screening check
  • A current First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • A current full/open driver's licence
  • Physical capacity to carry out the duties required
  • The ability to be flexible and adapt to changes
  • A keen eye for detail with a focus on improving client experiences
  • A person centred approach to providing supports
