About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Support Worker to provide morning support to a 27-year-old man living with cerebral palsy and an intellectual disability. This role focuses on supporting him to start his day confidently and independently and assisting him to attend his prevocational placement.

Shift options:

  • Monday & Friday or
  • Wednesday & Friday (7:00am – 9:00am)

About Our client

Our client is a friendly, social, and energetic person who enjoys being active in the community. His interests include:

  • Swimming
  • Bike riding

  • Gymnastics
  • Playing hockey
  • Watching AFL (especially the Western Bulldogs!)

He is keen to work with someone of a similar age and interests, ideally located within 30 minutes of Balwyn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wake him and assist with him with his morning routine:
    • Prepare breakfast
    • Support personal care tasks (getting dressed, brushing teeth, etc.)
    • Pack his bag for the day
  • Drive him to his prevocational placement

Essential Requirements

  • Previous disability support experience (essential)
  • Reliable car and valid driver’s licence
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong spoken and written English comprehension
  • Reliable, punctual, and person-centred approach

Client in Templestowe– Afternoon Shifts

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Support Worker to support an 18‑year‑old young man with cerebral palsy who uses a wheelchair. He is in his final year of high school and lives at home with his family. This role focuses on building a trusted, one‑on‑one support relationship and providing high‑quality personal and complex care in the family home.

Shifts Available

  • Tuesdays & Fridays
  • 4:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Shifts will increase over time as the relationship and routine build

About our client

Our client is friendly and enjoys spending time in his room engaging in activities and accessing the community. Initially, shifts are primarily focused on building trust and once you are comfortable with the routine and have established a good rapport with our client, you will use his communication book (computer book) to do some activities and engage in community access also.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet him at the school bus stop (short walk home)
  • Assist with personal care using a hoist
  • Support showering and dressing routines
  • Set up and manage PEG feeding
  • Clean his room and bathroom
  • Spend time engaging with him in his room
  • Use his communication/computer book for activities once confident with routines

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in high‑intensity disability support
  • Manual Handling - Hoisting experience (essential)
  • Comfortable assisting with PEG feeding (training can be provided for the right person)
  • Experience personal care
  • Patient, respectful, and relationship‑focused approach
