The Community and City Services Division puts people, families and community at the forefront of our work. The Social Worker works within the Family Services Team of the Community Wellbeing Branch, within the Community and City Services Division. The Family Services Team of the Community Wellbeing Branch which is made up of three main work areas – Family Health (including Maternal and Child Health and Immunisation), Parenting Services and Family Support and Counselling. These teams work together in an integrated model to deliver high quality, responsive services to the community.
The Social Worker provides assessment, casework and case management services and works in partnership with community agencies and groups to develop strategies to engage marginalised families. The Family Support and Counselling program comprises the coordinator, Senior Social Workers, Social Worker, bi-lingual Family Support Workers, and Casework/Counsellors.
As part of the Family Wellbeing Team, the Social Worker provides a range of individual and group services to families with children 0 to 18 years, from various language, cultural and socio-economic groups, to strengthen families and improve circumstances for children. The Social Worker makes decisions on the day to day management of their work tasks referring to existing legislation, policies, procedures, practice standards and agreed case plans.
