The Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Victoria, providing specialist knowledge and support to young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds. Our vision is that young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds are connected, empowered and influential Australians.

About the Role

CMY seeks a Multicultural Youth Worker will work directly with South Sudanese young people, their families and the wider community to ensure young people are connected and engaged with their families, education and employment opportunities. This position will support young people through a combination of case management, sport and recreation activities and through connecting young people to mentors and role models.

  • Hours: 30.4 hours per week (0.8 FTE), Part Time
  • Fixed Term: until 31 December 2020
  • Base Salary (SCHADS Level 4): $71,174 per annum (pro rata), plus Super and Access to Salary Packaging
  • Location: CMY Dandenong/Casey Office
  • Interviews: to be held in the week beginning Monday, 27 July 2020

You will have

  1. Case management experience and demonstrated ability to manage complex young people and family issues.
  2. Demonstrated experience developing and facilitating activities that build the skills, capacity and connections of young people.
  3. Ability to manage own work and the capacity to work effectively in a team.
  4. A sound understanding of youth participation, community development principles and knowledge of support and community services; and
  5. Demonstrated high level written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
