The EV Project Officer is responsible for coordinating the delivery of this program to accelerate electric vehicle fleet uptake in local government fleets across Australia. This role will be responsible for facilitating and delivering a range of resources, webinars and events, in addition to managing the project budget and monitoring and reporting project progress.
The Cities Power Partnership (CPP) is a program of the Climate Council, Australia’s leading climate change communications organisation. The Climate Council is an exciting, dynamic and nimble organisation and in joining us, you will have an unrivalled opportunity to contribute to the public discourse on climate change and exposure to some of the leading minds applying themselves to the challenge of resolving the climate crisis.
The EV Project officer will have the exciting opportunity to directly influence hundreds of local government decision makers, which will have significant impacts for Australia’s EV sector. We are looking for someone with a passion for climate change and making a difference.
The Climate Council of Australia is Australia’s leading climate change communications organisation. We provide authoritative, expert advice to the Australian public and key decision-makers on climate change and solutions based on the most up-to-date science available. Climate Council was founded in 2013 by thousands of Australians to create a new, independent and 100% community-funded organisation in response to the abolition of the Australian Climate Commission.
Our vision is that by 2025 Australia’s emissions are on a steep downward trajectory with projects and policies in place to see us cut emissions by 75% by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2035. This represents a transformation in action and attitude from all levels of government, industry, business and community. It also fundamentally improves Australia's contribution to the global climate challenge, while unlocking benefits/potential of the new economy, and protecting lives, well-being and the natural environment.
Our mission is to be a courageous catalyst propelling Australia towards bold, effective action to have emissions plummet during the 2020s and hit net zero by 2035.
The Cities Power Partnership (CPP) is Australia’s largest local government climate network, with over 170 council members across the country. It is an initiative of the Climate Council and exists to give local governments the tools, connections and momentum to take bold action on climate change. Local governments who join the partnership make five action pledges in either renewable energy, efficiency, transport or working in partnership to tackle climate change. Councils then have access to a range of resources to support the implementation of their pledges. These include an online library, online and in-person events and a platform for councils to share their experiences, such as presenting on how they collaborated on a community energy project, or implemented a net-zero emissions policy.
Reporting to the CPP Director, this role works closely with the wider CPP team. The EV Project Officer will also directly collaborate with research, advocacy, media, digital and communications teams within the Climate Council and external stakeholders that work in the local government, climate change and electric vehicle space to deliver the project outcomes.
