We are one of Australia’s largest and most experienced carbon farming project developers. This includes more than 160 projects with farmers, plantation managers, agribusiness, and Indigenous groups on carbon farming projects.

Climate Friendly has delivered over 20Mt in carbon abatement as at the end of 2020. Our immediate mission is to establish partnerships, by 2025, that will store or reduce 150Mt of CO2-e, while repairing nature and supporting reconciliation. The role

As Project Manager you will be the key link between our client, the project and Climate Friendly. You will be providing support and education to partners to ensure projects are implemented in line with best practice and incorporate continuous improvement. The role also involves fieldwork to support implementation of projects, including assessing on-ground condition and developing Land Management Strategies for Carbon Projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Meeting agreed KPI targets such as client visits
  • Conducting field work including advisory work on tree planting, bush regeneration, weed management to maximise project outcomes
  • Qualifying client and project potential through questioning and fact finding
  • Quantifying the carbon potential of projects with our due diligence team
  • Presenting carbon farming opportunities to decision makers such as land managers / landowners.
  • Negotiating / signing carbon project agreements with clients
  • Collating data for project registration, project audit and continued project management
  • Coordinating project registrations with support from other internal service teams in Climate Friendly
  • Ensure risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated, with minimal impacts to the project;
  • Implementing and reviewing Project related Land Management Strategies routinely with clients to ensure carbon projects are being managed in line with method requirements.
  • Understand and explain invoicing, respond to client invoicing queries;
  • Maintaining records in our customer relationship management system
  • Creating and updating project workflows in Asana / project management software
  • Completing basic/intermediate QGIS mapping tasks as necessary
  • Establishing / maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders including clients, industry regulators, government departments, Aboriginal Corporations, and other partner organisations.
  • Promotion of OHS and participation in the company Duty Officer roster.

About you

  • Qualifications/lived experience in fields related to Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Forestry, Ecology or Agriculture.
  • Experience in a rural or land restoration role, for example tree planting, bush regeneration and weed management.
  • Experience in customer engagement and excellent interpersonal skills across a range of land managers.
  • Enthusiasm for identifying new business, good phone manner, and willingness to call land managers to discuss carbon and nature repair opportunities.
  • Comfort with Microsoft suite, CRM systems and ideally basic skills in mapping systems like QGIS and/or willingness and capacity to quickly upskill in this space.
  • Ability to adapt to follow processes and adapt to change
  • Capacity to travel for fieldwork on a regular basis (1 week a month as a guide) and experience working/travelling in isolated areas using a 4WD.
  • Interest in/previous experience with Emissions Reduction Fund/Carbon Farming
  • You will be required to become an authorised representative under Climate Friendly’s Australian Financial Service License and undertake mandatory financial training each year.
