Our people are passionate about their communities and connected to their teams. They’re motivated by our genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion, and our clear, compelling plan for our global city: Sustainable Sydney 2030 – 2050 Continuing the Vision.
Be part of a purpose-led organisation with care at its core. You’ll make a difference by acting in the best interests of our communities and city. Be better together with collaborative and inclusive partnerships. Embrace possibilities and be open to new ideas and creating bold solutions.
This role places you in the heart of the decision-making process in the City of Sydney, working in the office of Greens Councillor Sylvie Ellsmore. You’ll work in a fast-paced political environment, working alongside the community, stakeholders, and the office of Greens Councillor Matthew Thompson.
We are looking for someone who:
Sylvie is one of two Greens Councillors on the City of Sydney Council, alongside Councillor Matthew Thompson. The Greens work on the City of Sydney Council is particularly focused on housing justice, environmental sustainability, reducing economic and social inequality, and supporting local community groups to lead grassroots change.
Sylvie is the former Deputy Mayor, founding Chair of the Housing for All Advisory Committee, and current Deputy Chair of the Community Services and Facilities Committee. She plays a key role in leading the Council’s affordable housing work including protecting public housing, increasing developer contributions for affordable housing, growing cooperatives and more.
You will be part of a diverse, complementary team to support the Councillors until the end of the term (2028). This is the senior staff role in the office, so we’re looking for someone with a few years’ experience – paid or unpaid.
At the same time, the job would suit someone with a willingness to learn new skills, who is open and a good communicator, and who would thrive in a fast-paced team. So even if you haven’t had experience with a similar role, we’d love to hear from you!
