The College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) is responsible for intensive care medicine specialist training and education in Australia and New Zealand. With over 1200 members, and several hundred trainees, we strive to support the capability of our membership to deliver critical care to their patients.

As our Policy Co-ordinator you will have a diverse consultative role working with our senior members and internal teams to co-ordinate the review and development of all college guidelines, policies and position statements; co-ordinate external submissions and promote liaison with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders.

Key activities include:

Policies, Guidelines and Statements

  • Coordinate regular updates to all College Fellowship, Training and professional documents through working groups tasked with the development of College documents and preparing drafts for presentation to the Board.
  • Identify the appropriate individuals or committees to contribute to revisions.
  • Maintain a database of appropriate source material.
  • Ensure current documents are communicated on the College website.
  • Identify further opportunities for policy development.

External Submissions

  • In consultation with the President, Directors of Professional Affairs and Management Team, coordinate the timely drafting, review, approval, and lodgement of submissions to government and other bodies.

External Relations

  • Seek representatives to serve on external committees.
  • Maintain a database of representation with external bodies.
  • Co-ordinate strategic College engagement with external stakeholders.

Indigenous Health Committee and Community Advisory Group

  • Identify activities or documents that require review; organise and attend review meetings and complete all associated administration.
  • Ensure committee decisions of are acted upon and communicated to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders ensuring standards and deliverables are met.

For success in this role you will bring a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as public health or social science, coupled with demonstrated experience in policy analysis, policy development or advocacy roles. You will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to engage collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders and your written communication abilities will be clear, concise and cohesive. Proven autonomous organisation, co-ordination and administration abilities are essential.
