Chucharis Care Pty Limited is looking for a caring, reliable and respectful Disability Support Worker to join our team in Port Lincoln.

We provide person centred NDIS support services that help people live safely, independently and with dignity. Our services include personal care, assistance with daily living, shopping support, social support, community activities and outings, hoist and transfer, assistance with eating, housework and travel and transport assistance.

This is a full time permanent role suitable for someone who genuinely enjoys supporting aged people and people with disability in their own homes and in the community.

About the role

You will provide practical care, household assistance, emotional support and companionship to aged people and people with disability. The role is hands on and participant focused. You will help clients with daily activities, personal care, mobility, meals, social participation, shopping, appointments and general household tasks.

Main duties

  • Assist clients with daily personal care, including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting and personal hygiene.
  • Support clients with mobility, transfers and safe movement, including the use of mobility aids and manual handling equipment where required.
  • Prepare and serve meals in line with the client’s needs, preferences, dietary requirements and care plan.
  • Provide general household assistance, including cleaning, laundry, changing linen, meal preparation, shopping and other daily living tasks.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, shopping, community activities, recreational activities and social outings.
  • Arrange and support suitable social activities to help clients stay connected, active and involved in the community.
  • Provide companionship, friendship and emotional support to reduce loneliness and improve wellbeing.
  • Observe and report changes in a client’s physical, emotional or behavioural wellbeing to the supervisor or relevant health professional.
  • Follow individual care plans, behaviour support strategies, manual handling procedures and workplace safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate progress notes and records in line with organisational procedures and NDIS requirements.

  • A reliable worker who can attend shifts on time and follow care plans properly.
  • Someone who is comfortable supporting people in their homes and in the community.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work respectfully with clients, families and other support staff.
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions and report concerns clearly.
  • Confidence in providing personal care, household support, mobility assistance and companionship.

Qualifications and checks

  • Preferred qualifications include a Diploma of Community Services, Certificate IV or Certificate III in Individual Support, or another relevant care or disability qualification.
  • Applicants with relevant experience in aged care, disability care, personal care or home support will also be considered.

You must have or be willing to obtain

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • National Police Check
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Working with Children Check, if required
  • Valid driver licence with no suspension
  • Reliable registered vehicle suitable for work related travel
  • Right to work in Australia

Pay and conditions

This is a full time permanent position. The successful applicant will be paid in accordance with the applicable industrial instrument. Saturday, Sunday and public holiday penalty rates will be paid where applicable under the Award.
