Disability Support Worker - Complex Behaviour Support - Mildura

In this rewarding role, you’ll provide tailored, flexible support to individuals with complex behaviour needs, helping them build independence, develop life skills, and improve quality of life. You’ll work within a structured, team-based approach, implementing Behaviour Support Plans and responding effectively across varying levels of escalation.

This is a hands-on role where consistency, professionalism, and compassion are key.

This is a full time position – 38 hours per week, 5 days per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement Behaviour Support Plans with accuracy and consistency
  • Follow proactive and reactive strategies guided by Behaviour Support Practitioners
  • Recognise and respond to early signs of escalation using evidence-based, least-restrictive approaches
  • Support participants with daily living skills, routines, and community activities
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including incident and behaviour reporting (NDIS compliant)
  • Work collaboratively with families, Support Coordinators, Allied Health and multidisciplinary teams
  • Participate in supervision, training and team meetings

What You Bring (Essential)

  • Certificate IV in Disability (or higher/equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting people with complex behaviours
  • Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and restrictive practices
  • Ability to remain calm, consistent and responsive under pressure
  • Excellent communication, documentation and teamwork skills
  • Confident following structured plans and approaches
  • High level of self-awareness and reflective practice
  • Commitment to dignity, respect and strengths-based support
  • Tech-savvy with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current National Police Check (within 3 months)
  • Current Driver’s Licence

Desirable:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work
  • Victorian Disability Worker Commission (VDWC) Registration
