About the role

The Media and Communications Manager plays a pivotal role in modernising and enhancing the organisation's media and communications. The role ensures clear, consistent and engaging communications, which amplify CEW’s presence and influence. This position involves managing end to end media and policy and advocacy content for member communications. The role works closely with the Manager Policy and Research to advance CEW’s thought leadership and advocacy agenda, and with the Digital and Marketing Executive to contribute to social media, website and marketing content to strengthen CEW's engagement and impact.

Key Responsibilities

1. Media Contact Management:

  • Develop and implement media / PR strategies for CEW campaigns and work streams.
  • Serve as the point of contact for media inquiries and requests.
  • Cultivate relationships with journalists and media outlets to secure positive coverage.
  • Prepare and distribute press releases and statements to relevant media channels.
  • Prepare and secure opinion pieces in relevant publications.
  • Build a database of CEW member media spokespeople and equip them with tools to successfully advocate for CEW priorities.

2. Member Communications Content:

  • Deliver content (including editorial, blogs, web content, case studies) for CEW member newsletters, CEW website and CEW member Hub, which is tailored to CEW members and audience
  • Draft social media copy for CEW advocacy campaigns.
  • Develop media and advocacy tools for CEW members, including talking points.
  • Work closely with Policy, Communications & Research team to deliver opportunities to elevate research and policy.
  • Work closely with the Member Engagement team to deliver relevant content to support member engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with members to identify opportunities for advocacy engagement.
  • Uphold and enhance the CEW brand through consistent messaging.
  • Ensure all communications materials align with CEW's values and goals.

3. Data Analysis:

  • Utilise data analytics tools to track media performance.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on key media and advocacy communications metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Use data-driven insights to refine media and communications strategies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with members and media contacts.
  • Strong understanding of gender diversity and inclusion issues in the corporate world.
  • Proficiency in marketing software, social media platforms, and data analytics tools.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to travel and work occasional evenings or weekends for events and meetings
