ABOUT US

The Community Housing Industry Association Victoria (CHIA Vic) is the peak body representing not-for-profit community housing organisations in this state.  

CHIA Vic’s role is to advocate on behalf of members to government and other relevant bodies and provide advice, resources, and training to the community housing sector. Community housing in Victoria is provided by a large and diverse range of not-for-profit organisations. These organisations own and manage over 20,000 tenancies in Victoria across the regulated and independent sectors.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This newly created ongoing role will play a crucial role in supporting CHIA Vic to deliver a diverse range of community housing sector projects aimed at maximising the effectiveness of the social housing system across a range of areas.

This position plays a crucial role by working collaboratively across CHIA Vic and its membership to support leading practice in community housing service delivery. Additionally, this position provides subject matter expertise on social housing management. This includes providing guidance to member organisations, contributing to training development, creating resources to support changes to policy and practice and contributing to advocacy to government for legal, regulatory and contractual changes to support the efficient operations of the sector.

This role will suit a creative, experienced person with excellent organisational and coordination skills and knowledge of the social housing sector.

Candidates must have the right to work in Australia and be willing to undertake a police check.

Key Selection Criteria

  • A strong understanding of social housing practice and commitment to improving the lives of renters. Ideally this will be founded in a background of social housing service delivery and include a strong working knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • The ability to source, analyse, interpret and present complex information in a manner that meets the needs of target audiences.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including experience engaging with and influencing stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present to groups and review and update template policies and procedures.
