The Centre for Women & Co. exists to deliver responsive, high quality and holistic women services to the Logan and Redland Regions, encompassing domestic and family violence support services and women’s health and wellbeing support services.
The Role
The Centre for Women & Co. are seeking a Finance Manager who will provide professional financial services and oversee all financial aspects of the organisation with support from the Administration & Operations Support Worker.
Typically, the Finance Manager will ensure the revenue is protected through establishing financial controls, payroll, and departmental reporting for the organisation. You will work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors who will rely on you to provide advice to support the organisational decision-making. This is a pivotal role that will suit a motivated and switched on degree-qualified accountant with strong back ground working in the NFP sector. You will have a keen eye for detail and motivated to assist in numerous process improvement projects.
As an effective and empowering team member, you will ensure the goals, aspirations and financial obligations of The Centre for Women & Co. are met and that the service accessibility is maximised for those most at risk. Some of the duties will include but not limited to:
- Providing professional advice as required by the CEO and/or Board of Directors in relation to The Centre for Women & Co. finances
- Prepare monthly financial reports for the CEO and Board of Directors
- Ensure all necessary submissions are made to the ATO (including STP), ACNC, ASIC, Office of Fair Trading etc.
- Support and provide guidance to the CEO in relation to financial management - including grants (budget preparation and monitoring)
- EOM payroll processes including payroll accruals and IAS reporting and lodgement
- EOM account reconciliation
- Q-Leave reporting and lodgement
- Prepare quarterly Business Activity Statements for submission to the Australian Taxation Office
- Prepare end of year reporting including Payment Summary and Single Touch Payroll reporting obligations
- Liaise with external parties regarding legal responsibilities of the Centre including insurance records and payments, the Association Incorporation Act and taxation law
- Overseeing continuous financial quality improvement in the women’s service areas
- Liaise and consult with key stakeholders in the women’s service areas including funders and other stakeholders where relevant and in relation to financials
- Monitor financial trends in the sector, government, external organisations and within the program to inform future planning
- Identify emerging financial risks in the organisation and develop and implement recommendations to mitigate potential financial impacts on the achievement of The Centre for Women & Co. objectives
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance - with experience in a not-for-profit environment
- Excellent knowledge of local accounting regulations and practises
- Proficient in MS Office especially Excel with a keen eye for details
- Ability to work closely in a small team within a large organisation
- Excellent communication skills to support your ability to deal effectively with all internal and external stakeholders and staff of the organisation
- Knowledge and understanding of salary sacrificing entitlements within the not-for-profit sector
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Willingness and commitment to provide optimum service delivery will enable you to work collaboratively and effectively with team members, clients and other organisations within the Cleveland and Logan community
Selection Criteria – (please address each in your application)
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting
- 2 to 5 years’ experience in accounting with an academic background in either finance, accounting or business management
- Extensive experience in the Not-For-Profit sector with understanding of federal budgetary requirements
- Proficient computer skills in MYOB, MS Office with particular focus on Excel internet and email
- Preferably a Member of Certified Public Accountant Australia
- Ability to maintain confidentiality within all aspects of the role
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
- An understanding of and support for the feminist philosophy of The Centre for Women & Co. and collaborative decision-making processes
- Willingness to participate in a collaborative and supportive manner with the team and capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work with a Board of Directors
- Computer literacy and reporting experience
