The Centre for Volunteering is looking for a positive and experienced Manager: Events and Capacity Building to join our team. This is an interesting and diverse role where your initiative and event management skills will be an asset.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Exercising your creative flair and ideas to help devise successful events
  • Initiating, developing, driving and maintaining detailed event planning schedules for event delivery
  • Preparing and managing event budgets
  • Developing and producing materials related to events (invitations, information packs, flyers, run sheets, name tags, promotional items etc.)
  • Liaising with and negotiating contracts for venues, food, audio-visual equipment, signage, etc
  • Liaising with partners and sponsors to ensure their brand and message are consistent
  • Preparing relevant materials and managing all on-site production and post-event details
  • Managing event invitation lists and RSVPs
  • Proactively identifying and resolving issues or complaints
  • Posting information on social media and helping prepare content for eDMs promoting events, by working with the Digital Marketing and Communications Manager

The Manager: Events and Capacity Building will have outstanding organisation skills, the ability to communicate clearly, attention to detail and sound judgement. He/she must work well under pressure, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of all events.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of event planning, management and delivery, including experience in event infrastructure procurement and management (such as audio-visual, lighting, hire equipment, staging and sound).
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve organisational goals and build relationships through events and other networking
  • Demonstrated ability to develop creative event programs that reflect audience needs
  • Ability to prepare, plan, administer and host events, awards ceremonies and conferences to increase the profile of the organisation and volunteering generally
  • Ability to gather, manage and drive the necessary team(s) to deliver an event to schedule
  • Ability to manage conflicting demands on time and multiple deadlines
  • Experience in preparing, planning and administering event/project budgets
  • Experience in using social media to enhance events
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare relevant, timely reports, correspondence, presentations and displays

QUALIFICATIONS

Tertiary qualifications in event management or related discipline and relevant experience
