The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare (the Centre) is a not-for-profit peak body for child and family service organisations in Victoria. We represent more than 150 community service organisations, students and individuals working across the continuum of services from early years through to the child protection and youth justice systems. We advocate strongly for the rights of children and young people to be heard, to be safe, to access education and to remain connected to family, community and culture. We work closely with community service organisations, government, other peaks, philanthropy and business to make sure vulnerable children, young people and families are seen and heard and supported to thrive.

Position Summary

The Out-of-Home Care Philanthropic Funders Network (the OoHC Network) is a collaborative group of philanthropic organisations with a shared interest in improving the outcomes of children and young people at risk of entering, or with an experience of, out-of-home care (OoHC).

The OoHC Network is a successful example of collaborative philanthropy that has made a strong impact in the OoHC sector in Victoria through the contributions of a diverse range of philanthropic organisations in partnership with the OoHC sector.

Since its inception in 2017, the OoHC Network Project has provided a unique forum for its members to learn about the child and family services sector including trends, evidence and innovation in OoHC in Victoria and other jurisdictions. The OoHC Network also facilitates collaborative grant rounds.

The Centres advocacy for the rights of children and young people, in particular for those with an experience of OoHC brings a whole of system perspective of both the challenges and innovations and highlights the systemic change opportunity for philanthropy.

The OoHC Network project is funded by and works closely with Equity Trustees.

The OoHC Network project has four key areas of focus:

  1. Knowledge building of the philanthropic sector by profiling systems and lived experiences of children, young people, families and carers.
  2. Innovation grants to enable collaboration, testing innovative practice, systems change and new ways of working.
  3. Raising awareness and supporting policy change to amplify the voices of children, young people, families and carers.
  4. Supporting capability building across the OoHC sector

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage the Out-of-home Care Philanthropic Funders Network Project.
  • Deliver OoHC Network Innovation Grant program.
  • Lead engagement and collaboration across the philanthropic members and the OoHC sector.
  • Facilitate Innovation Grant recipients to ensure project delivery.
  • Liaise and support current philanthropic members and implement strategies to expand the membership base.
  • Deliver bi-monthly Network meetings.
  • Produce bi-monthly policy and research reviews focusing on OoHC.

Key Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will have:

Knowledge and Understanding

  • Community services sector and Out-of-Home care system (desirable but not essential)
  • Aligning and advancing strategic priorities
  • Sensitive information and how to maintain appropriate levels of privacy and confidentiality

Experience

  • Proven project management
  • Extensive stakeholder management, including at executive and senior management level
  • Demonstrate partnership building and collaborating in community services and/or social profit sector
  • Demonstrate experience working with the philanthropic sector and/or in grant making
  • Expertise in producing high level written reports and presentations

Skills

  • Extensive relationship and partnership building underpinned by collaboration
  • Demonstrated problem solving
  • Sound time management and agile organisation
  • Strong communication with different audiences both written and verbal
  • Willingness to work as part of a high performing team and ability to work independently
  • Ability to identify sensitive information and maintaining a high level of confidentiality
  • Use of software and applications including MS Office suite and customer databases

Qualifications

  • Qualifications in project management or other relevant qualification.

  3. Proof of the right to work in Australia
