CERES Nursery opened in 1996, specialising in food plants, indigenous species, Australian natives, and specialist plants. The nursery is very popular within the community and is setting a standard in providing an alternative to the mainstream nursery industry. The nursery is accredited with Sustainable Gardening Australia.

CERES Nursery has an emphasis on excellent customer service and horticultural integrity. CERES Nursery is committed to sustainable horticulture guided by the ethics and principles of Permaculture and organic gardening practices.

WHERE YOU COME IN

The primary aim of the nursery worker position is to support the nursery manager and nursery staff to assist in the maintenance and development of the CERES nursery. This position will necessitate general duties of the nursery, a high level of customer service, stock management, administrative tasks, and a commitment to the nursery’s viability. The successful applicant has the opportunity to be part of a unique and dynamic enterprise.

YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT BY:

  • Assisting customers with garden advice and horticultural knowledge
  • Research and consolidate horticultural knowledge on an ongoing basis
  • Assist CERES visitors with general enquiries or directions
  • Participate in the daily maintenance and display of all nursery plant stock
  • Contributing to a positive, welcoming, and friendly atmosphere in the nursery and helping to maintain staff morale and focus

THIS ROLE REQUIRES:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience within the retail nursery industry including excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent general plant knowledge, including; food plants, indigenous and Australian native plants
  • Must be physically fit and have the capacity to perform physically demanding tasks as required, including manually unloading soils and mulches, and working outdoors in varied weather conditions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainable and organic horticultural practices
  • Knowledge and interest in Permaculture principles
