Centrefarm Aboriginal Horticulture Limited (Centrefarm) is seeking a Training Farm Manager to lead a unique agricultural training initiative at Alekarenge (Ali Curung), approximately 300 km north of Alice Springs.
This is a diverse and rewarding role that sits at the intersection of commercial agriculture, community development, vocational training and mentorship. The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day operation of the training farm while helping shape and grow the program, creating stronger pathways into employment for community members and program participants.
While practical farming and agricultural experience is preferred, it is not essential. Candidates with backgrounds in trade skills, vocational education, employment services, program development or community mentoring are encouraged to apply if they are comfortable working in a practical environment and willing to further develop their agricultural capability with support from Centrefarm's technical team.
While this is advertised as a single position, the role is open to job-sharing arrangements and would welcome applications from couples where both parties bring relevant skills and experience.
The training farm is owned by Alekarenge Horticulture Pty Ltd (AHPL), a community enterprise established by the Traditional Owners and community members of Alekarenge. Centrefarm Aboriginal Horticulture manages the operation and works alongside the community to deliver training, employment pathways and future commercial opportunities.
The 20-hectare training farm combines commercial agriculture with structured vocational pathways for community residents. The program aims to improve school retention, build practical skills and create genuine employment pathways — whether on Centrefarm's growing horticultural developments or in other industries chosen by participants.
This is an exciting time to join. With Centrefarm commercial horticultural developments progressing in the region, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to play an increasingly important role as these projects take shape.
Centrefarm Aboriginal Horticulture Limited is an Aboriginal-led developer of viable commercial economies on Aboriginal land in the Northern Territory. Working alongside Traditional Owners and communities, Centrefarm seeks to attract investment, develop infrastructure, stimulate local enterprise and create genuine employment opportunities that encourage economic independence and self-determination.
Centrefarm's work spans vocational pathways, community engagement and commercial horticultural developments across Central Australia, with a strong focus on creating long-term economic opportunities on Aboriginal land.
