Training Farm Manager - Alekarenge (Ali Curung)

Centrefarm Aboriginal Horticulture Limited

About the Role

Centrefarm Aboriginal Horticulture Limited (Centrefarm) is seeking a Training Farm Manager to lead a unique agricultural training initiative at Alekarenge (Ali Curung), approximately 300 km north of Alice Springs.

This is a diverse and rewarding role that sits at the intersection of commercial agriculture, community development, vocational training and mentorship. The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day operation of the training farm while helping shape and grow the program, creating stronger pathways into employment for community members and program participants.

While practical farming and agricultural experience is preferred, it is not essential. Candidates with backgrounds in trade skills, vocational education, employment services, program development or community mentoring are encouraged to apply if they are comfortable working in a practical environment and willing to further develop their agricultural capability with support from Centrefarm's technical team.

While this is advertised as a single position, the role is open to job-sharing arrangements and would welcome applications from couples where both parties bring relevant skills and experience.

About the Opportunity

The training farm is owned by Alekarenge Horticulture Pty Ltd (AHPL), a community enterprise established by the Traditional Owners and community members of Alekarenge. Centrefarm Aboriginal Horticulture manages the operation and works alongside the community to deliver training, employment pathways and future commercial opportunities.

The 20-hectare training farm combines commercial agriculture with structured vocational pathways for community residents. The program aims to improve school retention, build practical skills and create genuine employment pathways — whether on Centrefarm's growing horticultural developments or in other industries chosen by participants.

This is an exciting time to join. With Centrefarm commercial horticultural developments progressing in the region, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to play an increasingly important role as these projects take shape.
