Djooraminda Out of Home Care are looking for people like you to care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who for various reasons can't live at home.

The Live in Carer position is a live in position where you would move into one of our houses for 5 days to provide day to day care to our children as a parent would. Once your 5 days is complete you will then have 5 days off (with the option of returning for short 3-4 hour support shifts) whilst another Carer looks after the children.

A few specifics:

• Act as a parent to the children in our care e.g. taking them to school, helping with homework, cooking and cleaning
• Working in one of our homes with access to a vehicle and other supports
• To provide appropriate support and assistance to children who may display challenging behaviours associated with abuse/neglect, trauma, attachment, separation, grief and loss

What you need for this role

• Ability to apply for a National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check card
• Drivers licence
• Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture
• Experience with working with children
• Ability to work in a live in arrangement
