The Central Land Council (CLC) is a Commonwealth entity established under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The CLC represents traditional owners, native title holders and other Aboriginal people across the southern half of the Northern Territory—an area of almost 780,000 square kilometres.

The CLC provides constituents with advice, advocacy and practical assistance to support their aspirations, manage their land and realise and protect their rights.

We are seeking a suitably qualified candidate for the following position:

GRANTS ACCOUNTANT – FI002 – ALICE SPRINGS

CL 6 (Commencing at $76,854 progressing to $88,283)

The Grants Accountant is responsible for maintaining proper financial records for all external grants received by CLC and maintaining an effective relationship with external and internal clients. They coordinate monthly Income and Expenditure meetings with all Grant Project officers and their managers.

Key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Establish and maintain effective liaison with other operational units within the organisation.
  • Establish and maintain effective reporting procedures.
  • Oversee the monthly financial transactions and reporting for CLC Grants "Actual to Budget".
  • Prior to release, verify and validate information through general ledger reconciliation's and prepare:
    • Income & Expenditure statements for grants on a monthly basis
    • Monthly reports for AR codes
    • Monthly debtors report and action for 44 accounts
    • Submitting grant acquittals and reports to funding bodies on a timely basis
  • Arrange and conduct monthly meetings with each Grant Project Officer and their manager, reviewing all and expenditure items. Particular emphasis is placed on grants where at the end of the Financial Year or the term of the grant, all unspent monies are to be refunded
  • Ensure all reallocations of income and expenditure between grants are made monthly
  • Carry out the following tasks:
    • Checking and signing operations and LUTA cheques
    • Reviewing and approving operations and LUTA EFT's
      Please note: This role will require some regular remote travel across the CLC region to carry out the required duties of this position

Total effective package includes base salary, district allowance, superannuation, leave loading, relocation assistance, annual airfare allowance and salary packaging options. Yearly progression within the salary scale is subject to satisfactory performance. Advancement is in accordance with annual increments set out in an enterprise agreement.
