Central Desert Native Title Services is committed to achieving the best native title outcomes for the Traditional Owners of the Central Desert region of Western Australia. We assist our clients to use their traditional lands to fulfil their highest social, cultural and economic aspirations.
Central Desert provides a range of services geared towards supporting Aboriginal Corporations known as Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC)s. A PBC is the corporate entity established to represent a Traditional Owner group in business matters, such as future acts, ILUA negotiations and cultural heritage. The PBC is the first point of contact for government and other parties (for example, mining companies) who wish to talk with the native title holders or undertake activities on native title land. We work with PBCs to achieve a sustainable and independent future, focusing on building capacity by empowering local and regional decision making.
We are seeking a PBC Support Officer to join our People, Heritage and Culture team. You will work closely with and support our clients to progress and manage their business. The core function of the roles is secretarial. Working within small multidisciplinary teams you will provide governance and organisation support and assist in delivery of meetings for some of the PBCs within the Central Desert region.
Whilst you will be based in our East Perth Office, the role involves regular travel to remote desert communities in WA. You will have the opportunity to see parts of the outback Australia and meet some of its many characters.
