The Senior FCCS counsellor takes on more challenging clientele where the Counsellor needs to use their expertise in therapeutic interventions. You will also provide ongoing mentoring and coaching to less experienced clinicians. This role will involve travel across the region, with the office based in Townsville.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert counselling services to individuals, couples, and families facing a range of challenges and issues.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the needs of clients and develop tailored intervention plans.
  • Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to support clients in achieving positive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure holistic support for clients.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to junior counselling staff, contributing to their professional development.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in compliance with organisational standards and relevant legislation.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision sessions and engage in continuous professional development activities.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary degree in Social Work, Psychology or Behavioural Sciences with minimum 3 years of experience and eligibility for membership of a relevant professional association/body.
  • Experience in delivering evidence-based therapeutic counselling interventions to formulate therapy plans, set goals and facilitate a positive approach in working with individuals to achieve these goals within established time frames.
  • An understanding of relevant legislation and effective service delivery models and the ability to work within such frameworks. This includes sourcing and sharing up to date knowledge on research and best practice frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake risk assessments relating to suicidal ideation, Domestic Violence and child protection concerns and capacity to liaise with other agencies to ensure client safety.
  • Proof of right to work in Australia.
  • A current Driver Licence.
  • Currently hold, and/or eligibility to obtain and maintain, both a Disability Worker Screening and a Working with Children Blue Card.
