For 60 years Centacare Community Services has been the social services arm of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Brisbane. With over 1700 employees working from 200 sites across South East Queensland, our employees are the heart of our organisation.

Mental Health Workers play a significant and important role in working with our clients to achieve their goals and live their very best lives. Clients and their workers often build strong relationships based on shared interests and mutual understanding. Currently we have a number of clients requiring support with their interests, activities and participation in the community.

We are expanding service delivery across the Greater Brisbane area and are seeking to recruit experienced Mental Health Workers.

Multiple permanent part time and casual positions exist.

Successful Support Workers:

  • Support adults to manage their mental well being, to live independently in the community and to enhance their skills
  • Support clients to utilise public transport, to attend appointments and provide emotional support
  • Promote independent living skills and choices
  • Implement client centred activities in community programs
  • Promote positive attitudes within the community
  • Assist clients to develop Individual Support & Recovery Plans and support clients to achieve their goals
  • Provide flexible services around people's needs
  • Complete documentation of day to day service delivery including incident reporting in accordance with organisational procedures.

Please note this role involves a combination of day/night shifts, sleepovers and weekends.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A passion for providing quality care
  • Qualifications (or currently studying) in Mental Health/Psychology/Social Work will be highly regarded
  • Experience supporting individuals with their mental health will be highly regarded
  • Great availability! The more available you are the more shifts we can potentially offer you
  • The physical capability to carry out all tasks
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent time management and problem solving skills
  • A current "C" class Drivers Licence
  • A roadworthy and registered vehicle
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • A National Criminal History (Police) check
  • A Working with Children 'Blue' Card with a 'Yellow' Card Exemption
  • Evidence of eligibility and right to work in Australia
  • Certificate of completion of the “NDIS Worker Orientation Module” - All workers of registered NDIS providers must complete the module'- https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au/ to assist the people working in the sector to support people with disability.

Remuneration:

You will be paid in accordance with our Collective Agreement with the base salary commencing at $24.30 / hr or higher depending on your qualification and/or previous experience.
