CEHL is Australia's largest cooperative housing provider. We manage a portfolio of more than 2,000 housing properties throughout Victoria and partner with over 90 co-ops to provide safe, secure, affordable housing to around 5,000 co-op members and renters.

CEHL actively promotes the rental housing co-operative model as an alternative to private home ownership, the private rental market, and public housing. Housing co-operatives are democratically controlled by their members and offer greater housing security, better building quality, and co-op members report higher levels of wellbeing.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Communications, Engagement & Business Support Manager will be responsible for leading the organisation’s coordination and implementation of effective communications, engagement, and business support. Working closely with the General Manager, Operations, key accountabilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide leadership on fit-for-purpose communications plans, tools, methods, and collateral that suit our diverse audiences.
  • Provide leadership and support for the organisation’s engagement with our stakeholders, with participation tailored to engagement goals, and creative and effective methods to strengthen our ways of working with co-operatives, members and renters.
  • Partner with CEHL senior management to deliver communications, engagement and business support in-line with our Strategic Plan and business objectives, providing insight & regular reporting.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the team of communications, engagement, and business support employees.
  • Lead the delivery of business support and administrative needs of the organisation.
  • Bring required flexibility to occasionally work outside usual business hours and from time to time, undertake travel within metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The role will ideally suit an experienced Communications, Engagement & Business Support Manager with a positive can-do attitude. The successful candidate will be able to problem solve, have a proactive work ethic coupled with the following qualifications, experience and attributes:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with a minimum 5-7 years’ experience in a related field, at a management level.
  • A proven record of developing and delivering creative and innovative communications and engagement strategies and plans.
  • Experience with community capacity building within membership-based organisations is desirable.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to prepare and implement communication strategies, media releases and compelling stories, projects and reports with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent team player with demonstrated experience in effectively leading and managing a dynamic multidisciplined team in a high-volume quality environment, and resourceful with the ability to manage administrative tasks and a budget.
  • A proven capacity to develop successful working partnerships with both Internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to the CEHL vision and values.
  • Current Victorian driver’s license.
