Children and Young People with Disability Australia (CYDA) is the national representative organisation for children and young people with disability aged 0–25.

About the role

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic young person with disability to join our Community Impact Team as a Communications Assistant.

This is an entry-level role designed to support skill development in communications, social media and community engagement in a supportive environment.

You’ll help create content for social media and digital communications, contribute ideas to make content engaging for young people, and support campaigns, events and community engagement activities.

You’ll work closely with our Community Engagement Coordinator and receive guidance, support and feedback as you build your skills and experience.

In this role, you will:

• Help create social media and digital content
• Participate in on-camera content using prepared scripts and guidance
• Assist with drafting, formatting and scheduling content
• Contribute ideas to help content connect with young people
• Support campaigns, consultations and events
• Complete routine administrative and communications tasks
• Work collaboratively with CYDA staff and teams
• Learn and develop skills in communications and community engagement

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is a young person with disability aged 18–22 years
• Is interested in communications, social media, advocacy or community engagement
• Uses platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels
• Can follow instructions, timelines and processes
• Has emerging communication skills
• Feels comfortable participating in on-camera content creation
• Can use digital tools such as Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
• Works well in a team and responds positively to feedback

No formal qualifications are required.
