THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced grants writer to join our dedicated team. This role is offered on a 10-month contract as maternity cover. You will oversee the fundraising portfolio, with a strong focus on grant applications, seeking additional funding on behalf of our programs, particularly our climate and nature protection advocacy. This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills in a strategic role and help secure critical funding to further support CCWA.

The role will work closely with all staff across the organisation as you establish an understanding of the daily operations and engage with team members so you are able to clearly articulate the impact and value of the work of CCWA to inspire others and showcase meaningful reasons for philanthropic giving.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The key responsibilities of the Grants Coordinator are to:

  • Proactively identify and track grant opportunities in the grants register.
  • Understand the needs within the program teams and seek funding to support this work.
  • Maintain contact with major donors and key funders in the absence of the Philanthropy and Engagement Manager. Provide regular updates and program reports, ensuring contact is maintained and engagements are tracked.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with key funding organisations and donors.
  • With support from the communications team, share meaningful updates and communications with donors/funders so they can see the impact of their gifts.
  • Work with the communications team to send out and manage quarterly e-mail appeals to supporters.
  • Confidently and efficiently articulate the work of CCWA and write compelling grant applications which are tailored to each individual funder.
  • Ensure all grant requirements are met and that reports and acquittals for all grants are delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • Attend networking events and organisational events as needed.
  • Provide regular internal reporting on fundraising and grant related activities.
  • Other duties as required by the Senior Leadership Team.

DUTIES

The Grants Coordinator has primary responsibility for overseeing fundraising opportunities for CCWA in the absence of the Philanthropy and Engagement Manager. The primary focus will be grant management, however you will need to be flexible and adaptable to manage other priorities as they arise. Duties as a CCWA team member will include:

  • Attend team meetings, including meetings of the management team to discuss funding opportunities, priorities and objectives.
  • Provide regular advice and feedback to other team members on the status of fundraising activities, grant applications and other items of relevance.
  • Continue to inspire a culture of philanthropy throughout the broader CCWA team.
  • Participate in special projects as required to improve processes, tools, systems and organisation.
  • Be an enthusiastic advocate for CCWA and its work.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with significant professional experience in grant writing and fundraising.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with major donors.
  • Experience and skill in creating funding appeals and building cases for support.
  • Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite and Monday.com.
  • Ability to grasp new systems and technology with ease – experience with maintaining a CRM database.
  • Understanding of fundraising in Australia.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and juggle priorities effectively.
  • Experience in managing a major gifts program, and in the direct solicitation of large gifts.
  • Working knowledge of trusts and foundations.

ESSENTIAL

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications applicable to the role.
  • Valid and current Western Australian Drivers Licence.
  • National Police Clearance Certificate.

DESIRABLE

  • A knowledge of nature conservation, environmental advocacy issues, particularly in Western Australia.
  • Significant experience with CRM systems and databases.
  • Experience in the environment sector and knowledge of climate change issues.
  • Established philanthropy contacts in Western Australia.

KEY DETAILS

  • Hours: Part-time (0.6 FTE)
  • Contract duration: 10 month initial contract (maternity cover).
  • Location: The position is based in West Perth, Western Australia.
  • Remuneration: $100,000 to $115,000 (FTE) plus superannuation dependent on skills and experience.
