Senior Case Manager - Refuge

CORE Community Services (CCS) - we are a not-for-profit community organisation which has been operating in South West Sydney for almost 40 years. We deliver a wide range of services, activities and programs across five key service areas - Children's Services, Youth Services, Multicultural Communities, Aged and Disability Care and Community Engagement.

The position focuses on providing accommodation to young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness predominately in the age range of 14 -18. The program will focus on working with young people and supporting them with accommodation, education and training pathways within South Western Sydney district with a focus on Campbelltown, Fairfield, Liverpool Wingecarribee and Wollindilly LGA.

To achieve these outcomes of this position, this service will work with a range of agencies within the skilled youth workers, the local area and with relevant government departments.

The position will provide flexible, specialist services that accord with principles of self-determination and meet the needs of this vulnerable target group. The position would be required to work as part of a large team and also, at times, in isolation.

The position would function under the supervision of the Refuge Team leader.

The position will be located within South West Sydney.

Selection Criteria

  • Formal qualifications or higher in community sector or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ frontline case work experience
  • Prior experience in a refuge setting (desirable)
  • Demonstrated excellence in working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse people, families and organisations and planning, delivering and evaluating services in a culturally sensitive manner
  • Demonstrated extensive experience working with youth at risk
  • Ability to conduct thorough assessment and intake processes and make appropriate recommendations
  • Experience in all aspects of case management and case plans
  • Well-developed interpersonal, mediation and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated experience in needs identification, project development and project management
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues with capacity to identify levels of risk requiring statutory child protection intervention.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the development and implementation of data collection tools and data evaluation processes, including the ability to generate comprehensive reports and manage brokerage budgets in a complete, timely and accurate manner.
  • Proven experience in improving processes, making improvements to existing methods and techniques
  • Sound interpersonal, communication skills and high level of computer literacy.
  • Demonstrated competence in community liaison and community capacity building; working with a range of appropriate professionals in youth related services.
  • Experience or understanding of early intervention and prevention models.
  • Capacity to work with minimal supervision, but able to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to be flexible, non-judgemental and be a positive role model.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities and tasks.
  • Basic to medium computer competency.
  • Possess a valid NSW Working with Children Check and Australian Federal Police Check.
  • Possess a current NSW drivers licence.
