The Public Housing Community Gardens Program is a government program providing community gardens to public housing tenants. There are 21 community gardens in the program with over 800 plots combined.

About the role

The Handyperson works in the Community Gardens Maintenance team with the aim of providing high quality and engaging spaces for people to use.

The role will work across all the 21 gardens in the program and support the maintenance of pathways and communal areas and other sites as required.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• General garden maintenance services
• Removing weeds and debris
• Maintaining pathways and grass areas
• Assisting with landscaping and garden upgrades
• Tree pruning, compost management and soil deliveries
• General repairs that may include sheds, locks, planters, beds, poster displays and signage
• Support relevant reporting, evaluation and monitoring as required
• Maintain effective relationships internally and externally
• Maintain safe environments to protect customers, team members and yourself in line with occupational health and safety legislation and Cultivating Community policy requirements
• Other duties as directed

Maintain standards and requirements in line with DFFH Guidelines.
