The Senior Advisor Climate Justice is the primary specialist on climate justice and resilience in CARE Australia (CA). Integral to successful fulfilment of the role is the ability to deliver on our Theory of change which embeds gender justice and locally led approaches within a climate and resilience framework, including in economic justice programs. The theory of change aims to build our Gender Equality Framework into all programs with a locally led approach, and focuses on 5 key programming areas: Climate Adaptation and Resilience, Humanitarian Action, Livelihoods, Work and Markets, Women’s Leadership and Movements, and Just Systems.
The Senior Advisor provides leadership and technical expertise to ensure our Theory of Change aspirations in relation to Climate Justice, Gender Justice and Economic Justice are realised. This includes ensuring minimum program standards as well as pursuing innovation. The Advisor is responsible for working with stakeholders and partners to support design of programs that are aligned with this framework. The position will support implementation and evaluation within this framework. The position works in collaboration with other advisors in the Capability and Impact Unit to support partners, partnerships and CARE Country Offices. The advisor supports a culture of strategic thinking, learning and continuous improvement and learning within CARE Australia and in engagements with Country Offices. The advisor will work in ways that are participatory and gender sensitive in the context of a localisation approach.
