We're seeking a senior finance professional to join our team in Melbourne. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in sourcing, evaluating, and executing investments in projects within the voluntary carbon market. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to global efforts in accelerating climate action.

Responsibilities:

Fuelling Investment Flow: You'll be at the forefront of identifying and assessing potential projects within the voluntary carbon market, collaborating closely with our Chief Executive Officer. From forest conservation to renewable energy, you'll build relationships with project developers to ensure a steady stream of impactful opportunities.

Navigating Transactions: As the architect of our investments, you'll lead negotiations and structure deals that drive both environmental and financial returns. Your expertise in due diligence and financial modelling will be crucial as you assess project viability and craft innovative solutions with our teams and advisors. From inception to execution, you'll ensure our investments deliver financial returns to our invests and climate finance to the people and places that need it the most. You’ll also play a critical role in monitoring project performance, assessing risks and providing insights for value creation.

Success criteria:

Essential

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience, such as project finance, investment banking, private equity, or corporate finance, with a focus on renewable energy, environmental finance, or carbon markets.
  • Expertise in financial modelling, valuation techniques, and investment analysis.
  • Track record of sourcing, structuring, and executing complex transactions in a dynamic environment
  • Experience in working across cultures, languages and time zones
  • High level of comfort with ambiguity and a demonstrated ability to take ownership of and break down, frame and solve complex problems

Desirable

  • Carbon finance knowledge (carbon offset methodologies, and environmental policy frameworks, with specific knowledge of voluntary carbon standards and protocols such as VCS, Gold Standard, ACR)

  • A genuine passion for climate finance and impact investing
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-driven and able to work autonomously, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • An inquisitive mindset and egalitarian spirit, willing to do what’s needed to thrive (and to help team members thrive) in a lean, hands-on environment.

This is a full-time role, with some out-of-hours work required to cater for work with teams in other time zones. Hybrid work arrangement (in-office and WFH).
