We are seeking an enthusiastic person to join our team as personal assistant / support worker. This varied & flexible support role includes personal care, home help, online communications & community / social support in and around the clients local area. It is hoped to build a long-term relationship with the successful applicant.
The position requires someone who can accommodate variable & flexible hours, generally averaging between 10-12 hours per week (negotiated around existing commitments). As an independent contractor the rate of pay is negotiable within NDIS guidelines.
This position requires working closely with the Key Worker / Personal Assistant. It is anticipated that in time you would gain an overview of the client’s support needs & the knowledge to fulfil their role as required, including stepping in for other support team members as necessary. You would be part of a diverse team who each bring their unique knowledge & outlook, working together for the benefit of our client.
You are patient, caring, a problem solver & lateral thinker. You will have an eye for detail, initiative, great organisational & communication skills. You have good general technology skills, flexibility, a desire to learn & hold the genuine belief that people with disabilities are valued, contributing members of society . An unrestricted driver’s license & first aid certificate are an advantage. A DCSI Screening / NDIS Worker Check & a ABN, or a preparedness to obtain them, are necessary.
Our client is a happy, caring, family focused & a very social 49-year-old man. He loves being as independent as possible & lives in his own apartment below the parental home in Stirling. Being a helper & volunteer are important roles, he loves music, learning new things & is proud to have a mobile coffee van micro-business called ‘Coffee Please’. Our client lives with low vision & epilepsy which is well managed & has some atypical sensory functions. Our client enjoys a very rich & varied life & is looking for another team member to bring their unique personality & skills to offer support & connection with different parts of life at different times.
