Just when life should be full of possibilities, cancer can crash into a young person’s world and shatter everything. Canteen provides young people impacted by cancer, and their parents, with access to a team of Allied Health Professionals who deliver programs, counselling and a range of other group and individual support activities.

The team at Canteen assist these young people to access the support they need to develop and maintain the skills and confidence to live healthy and happy lives.

Canteen also engages in community awareness and seeks to develop awareness of cancer support for young people around Australia. Canteen aims to create highly accessible, youth friendly, integrated service hubs as well as a range of online supports, that provide evidence-based interventions and support to young people aged 12–25 years impacted by cancer.

Job Summary

We are looking for someone with demonstrated experience in setting and implementing a strategic vision. You will have proven experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams with demonstrated ability to develop an effective team culture and high performance.

You will have proven experience in managing teams in achieving KPIs related to client support including reach, intake, assessment and review. You will be a strong leader with confident networking skills and proven experience building effective relationships with external stakeholders to drive organisational awareness.

The preferred candidate will have a relevant qualification in a business management discipline and/or advanced studies in psychosocial disciplines, a full driving licence, and a creative and innovative approach. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is business savvy with both budgeting and financial experience to help change the face of Canteen in Queensland.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant business management and/or psychosocial disciplines
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary psychosocial teams with demonstrated ability to develop an effective team culture and high performance
  • Proven experience in developing fundraising strategies and successfully reaching fundraising targets
  • Experience in delivering and/or coordinating organisational promotional activities for service delivery, fundraising, community and corporate sponsors and overall organisational profile building
  • Proven experience in building effective relationships with external stakeholders to drive organisational awareness
  • Drivers licence

Desirable:

  • Advanced studies in psycho-social disciplines will be advantageous
  • Experience working with a variety of volunteers is desirable
  • First aid certificate
  • Previous experience providing supervision to a team of psychosocial workers or counsellors is desirable, not essential
  • Experience managing/working in a regionally based office remote from the national office
  • Business planning and budgeting

Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong presenting and public speaking skills
  • Confident networking with general community, as well as corporate, government, health and school professionals
  • Ability to engage young people
  • Advanced computer skills, especially MS Office
  • Strong problem-solving and project-planning skills, with the ability to see projects through
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively
  • Ability to prepare and present information in a clear and logical way, and to deliver it with confidence
