Canteen is dedicated to supporting young people and their families affected by cancer. Founded by young cancer patients, our mission is to provide essential programs, services, and resources that positively impact the lives of 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis, dealing with a close family member's cancer, or grieving the loss of a loved one. Canteen’s success is built on the capability and motivation of its people. We are now seeking an Operations Performance and Data Insights Lead to join our team where you will focus on enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our operational performance through meticulous analysis and utilisation of data. You will maintain and innovate our data management tools and processes, including PowerBI dashboards, to ensure that data insights are accessible and they provide actionable insights to support better decision-making.

About our role

  • Lead the analysis and interpretation of operational data to identify trends and opportunities for performance enhancement.
  • Maintain and develop PowerBI dashboards for ongoing operational review, ensuring that data visualisations are both insightful and actionable.
  • Manage the Data and Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to ensure robust data pipelines, comprehensive data source coverage and the timely processing of data for insight generation.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of all data streams and their alignment to core business functions within Canteen, acting as a subject matter data expert to support robust decision-making and contribute to the success of existing and new projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for operational data insights, overseeing adherence to reporting schedules for board and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct training sessions on PowerBI and other data tools, empowering staff across the organisation to utilise dashboards effectively for operational insights.
  • Develop and refine KPIs in alignment with organisational objectives, regularly reviewing operational performance in relation to these metrics.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in PowerBI and other data analysis tools, with a strong track record of developing actionable business insights.
  • Demonstrated experience in operations and data management
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to distil complex data into clear, impactful insights.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities to engage with a wide range of stakeholders and to deliver comprehensive data-driven reports and presentations.
  • Leadership qualities to effectively guide teams and projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • A deep understanding of non-profit operations, objectives, and the unique challenges they present is desirable.

*Due to the nature of Canteen’s work, you will be required to (very) occasionally work weekends and evenings. Advance notice will be given when this is the case, and Canteen does have a Time off in Lieu policy for taking leave as agreed with the supervising manager.

Employment Expectations
