We believe that diversity in all its forms is a strength and are committed to working towards being an organisation that is inclusive of all individuals, so we can create a more vibrant and innovative culture.
Canteen acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as sovereign custodians of this land. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. Canteen is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and people of all ages.
Canteen is all about supporting young people and their families affected by cancer. Founded by young cancer patients, we offer programs and resources that truly make a difference for 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis, supporting a loved one, or grieving. Together, we believe our team can create real change!
The Education and Career Service (ECS) team supports young people with their career development from the time of a cancer diagnosis (whether their own, or that of a parent or sibling) until their needs have been met. Working with a high degree of autonomy, the Career Consultant delivers career counselling, education programs, and events that build skills, confidence, and employability.
They work directly with young people aged 12–25, providing an individualised, strengths-based service that draws on expertise in career development learning. This includes supporting young people to address barriers, explore interests, and engage meaningfully in education and career opportunities. The Career Consultant responds to referrals from both internal Canteen teams and external partners, ensuring young people receive timely, tailored support.
