The opportunity

We are seeking a part-time Caretaker to work within the Accommodation Services team across our two accommodation facilities, Milroy Lodge in Shenton Park and Crawford Lodge in Nedlands.

The two busy accommodation lodges provide country cancer patients and their carers with subsidised accommodation whilst attending treatment. Reporting to the Accommodation Services Manager, you will be responsible for providing reception and administration support to our accommodation facility.

This part-time position will commence in August 2026 and offers a unique roster of one week on, one week off, working from Friday to Friday.

Based in Shenton Park and/or Nedlands, this position is part-time working 33 hours a fortnight.

During each rostered fortnight, you will be required to complete 33 administration hours.

Standard administration hours are:

Monday to Friday: 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Saturday: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Sunday and public holidays: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

In addition to these hours, you will be required to provide on-call support during additional out-of-hours periods, including public holidays, throughout your rostered-on week.

Fully furnished live-in accommodation is provided for the duration of your rostered-on week.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing reception and administration support across both accommodation facilities; including answering incoming telephone calls, checking in and out of guests and responding to their queries
  • Maintaining administrative paperwork which includes invoices and accounts
  • Ensuring security of the building and safety of lodge guests using the appropriate processes and procedures
  • Responding to emergency situations using the appropriate processes and procedures.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a reception or administration role in accommodation services or similar industry
  • Demonstrated ability in handling sensitive enquiries is highly desirable
  • High level attention to detail, organisational and time management skills
  • High level verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft suite
  • Previous experience using hotel booking systems is desirable
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Ability to work with people from all walks of life
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA.
  • Positive approach to the workplace
  • Police Clearance is essential.
