The opportunity

Are you passionate about turning research into real-world impact?

We’re looking for an Alcohol Research Translation Coordinator to guide the coordination, translation, and distribution of research that informs policy and best practice. You will support the team to produce and commission research, with a focus on ensuring key findings reach the right audiences in clear, accessible, and actionable formats.

The ideal candidate will possess strong research communication skills, and be able to apply critical thinking, support innovation, and work collaboratively to translate evidence into policy.

Based in Subiaco, this position is full-time term contract until 30 June 2027. Part-time applications will be considered for candidates with relevant experience.

What you’ll be doing:

• Contributing to the planning and delivery of policy-relevant research projects to inform and progress alcohol policy priorities.
• Monitoring relevant research literature and identifying implications for Cancer Council WA’s policy priorities.
• Translating lengthy reports into concise briefs, snapshots, and tailored summaries for different stakeholders.
• Exploring opportunities to collect and communicate local data to support local governments to set healthy advertising standards.
• Preparing content for communications channels (e.g. e-newsletters, social media, web) to share relevant research findings.
• Developing internal and external stakeholder relationships to support collaboration and maximise the reach and impact of research.
• Representing Cancer Council WA at meetings and events.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A tertiary qualification in a health-related field
• Experience in the planning, delivery and communication of research
• Experience and understanding of health research methods
• Knowledge and understanding of state and national policy landscape for preventing harm from alcohol use
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including writing for a variety of formats and audiences
