About the role:

The Facilitator role is seasonal with a focus on school holiday periods and some weekends throughout the year. It is a great opportunity for someone looking for additional work to top up another role, studying full time or someone just looking for work during those periods.

As a Facilitator, your role will involve actively leading our camps and programs, managing complex situations, demonstrating excellent judgment and decision-making abilities and supporting the attainment of participants' NDIS objectives. Your main objective is to guarantee the overall welfare, safety, and growth of individuals with disabilities during their camp or program involvement. Additionally, you will offer support to support workers, volunteers, and students.

Essential Criteria:

  • The Facilitator role requires excellent organisation skills, inclusive and clear communication, supportive leadership, effective coordination, outstanding customer service and strong risk management skills. The facilitator is integral to maintaining a high quality on Cahoots services with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Must have a strong understanding of, and enforcement of, Cahoots Policies and Procedures with a commitment to maintaining Cahoots safety and safeguarding standards, for staff, volunteers and especially for children and adults at risk.
  • Current first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement of role).
  • Experience and/or understanding of the needs of people with disabilities and their families/carers.
  • Ability to proactively de-escalate potential conflict and behavioural triggers in participants and leaders and to resolve conflict and demonstrate behaviour management skills.
  • Must be available for weekend and school holiday work.
  • Availability for after-hours work and travel including overnight camps for up to 5 days.
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Card or willingness to get these prior to start date (minor incidents are not a barrier to employment, unless relating to safeguarding or abuse / violence of any nature).

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate is expected to adhere to the following;

  • Facilitating overnight camps and day programs to the highest quality adhering to all Cahoots policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Facilitating activities on camps and day programs, ensuring exceptional experiences for all participants.
  • Provide friendly, professional and high-quality customer service to parents/guardians and other stakeholders, ensuring Cahoots’ brand is maintained at the highest level
  • Coordinates support staff and volunteer leaders during service delivery, creating exceptional experiences through providing leadership, guidance, feedback, and support.
  • Prioritise participants’ safety, safeguarding, personal needs and goals when delivering all activities.
  • Administer and record medication for all participants according to the Cahoots Medication form requirements inc. duel signing and witnessing.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program participation and progress.
  • Completion of university and other student placement booklets for volunteer leaders whilst on services.

The role can also include an element of administration tasks, assisting the Service Coordinators/Workforce Coordinator to:

  • Prepare and organise pre and post service paperwork and reporting.
  • Liaise with families to provide feedback and progress notes of participants.
  • Completing staff and volunteer evaluations.
  • Adhere to budget parameters of service for all expenses, including recording, retaining receipts and return of all property to Cahoots offices, post service delivery.
