Overview

Australia’s transport system is a major and growing source of climate changing emissions. The way our society organises transport also has major direct impacts on people’s health and wellbeing. Momentum is building for change towards a healthier, more resilient low-carbon transport system, one that works for our climate, our communities and our children.

Your Role

As campaign leader, you will lead the Climate and Health Alliance’s national Healthy Transport Choices campaign. Healthy Transport Choices will activate health voices and build a positive, evidence-based and solutions-focussed health sector campaign to champion the benefits of decarbonised transport.

CAHA is a small, agile, rapidly-growing and well-networked for purpose organisation. From time to time you’ll also contribute to other work within CAHA on delivering a powerful health voice for climate action.

Your skills and experience

You’ll have experience designing and leading national campaigns. A self-starter, you’ll enjoy collaborating with other organisations and have a record of working effectively with a very wide range of stakeholders and allies. You’ll understand positive, evidence-based campaigns and be excited by the challenges and opportunities that exist working at the interface of climate and health.

You’ll appreciate that working in a health frame requires a holistic approach. You’ll use your experience in campaigning and organising to develop effective networks and catalyse action. You’ll understand the nature of both public and “inside-track” campaigning and be comfortable with both. You’ll be at ease working with senior health professionals and political leaders as well as at a community level, and be a flexible and responsive thinker and communicator.

You’ll work with our small team of communication, sustainable healthcare and climate and health policy experts to create an effective and durable health sector voice to champion transport decarbonisation.
