Buurabalayji Thalanyji Aboriginal Corporation (BTAC) is the Registered Native Title Body Corporate (RNTBC) for the Thalanyji People through Native Title Determination WCD2008/003.

BTAC is seeking a Ranger Program Coordinator who will play a pivotal role in developing and overseeing the Program, ensuring its successful implementation and alignment with the aspirations of Traditional Owners and the broader community. The position will be responsible for coordinating and supervising ranger activities, fostering strong relationships with Traditional Owners, and facilitating land management initiatives and would require extensive time in Onslow, WA.

Key Deliverables

• Set up and run the BTAC Ranger Program;
• Provide leadership and management of the ranger team;
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the program, ensuring it meets its objectives and delivers positive outcomes;
• Prepare and submit reports on program activities and outcomes to relevant stakeholders;
• Actively support pre-positioning efforts for grant and fee for service projects;
• Manage the BTAC Ranger Program unit budget and contractual reporting requirements.
• Other duties as directed by the Native Title and Heritage Manager.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

• Prior experience in setting up a similar program;
• Proven track record of successful program coordination and implementation;
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with Traditional Owners and community stakeholders;
• Deep understanding of Indigenous cultural values and practices;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Competence in the use of computers and Microsoft Office applications;
• Current manual driver’s license and competence in the use of a manual 4WD vehicle in remote and off-road conditions;
• Able to obtain a current Police and Working with Vulnerable People Clearances; and
• C Class License
• Willingness to work in a regional location and undertake extended fieldwork in remote areas for extended periods during the field season (roughly March to November).

Desirable:

• Vocational or tertiary qualifications in Land Management or related field.
• Project management experience;
• Experience working in the Native Title Sector;
• Mapping and geographic information system (GIS) skills.
