• Job Type: Permanent Full-Time working 38 hours per week
• Salary: $90,962.92 - $97,875.15 per annum, based on skills and experience plus 12% superannuation.

About the role

As a Development Coach at the Broadmeadows Thrive Hub, you’ll play a vital role in empowering local community members to take meaningful steps toward their employment, education and broader life goals. You’ll partner with participants as a coach, not a case manager; building their capability, confidence, and self‑direction to engage with education, employment, and community pathways that support the lives they want to build for themselves.

Using an Advantaged Thinking approach, you’ll engage individuals, guiding them to unlock their potential through personalised coaching and hands-on group learning experiences. You’ll work beside them in identifying career goals, overcoming barriers, and accessing the right resources - from mental health services to training opportunities.

This is a deeply rewarding role for those who are passionate about social justice, supporting individuals and communities and creating real change in people’s lives.

• Using an Advantaged Thinking practice approach, partner with participants to identify their education, employment and broader life goals and build momentum toward meaningful futures they define for themselves
• Identify the structural barriers that limit opportunity and support participants to develop strategies and self‑advocacy skills to address them
• Develop participants’ capacity to form meaningful connections with employers aligned to their employment goals
• Design and deliver practical, hands-on learning activities that build participants’ skills, confidence and social connections
• Build and sustain strong, place‑based community partnerships in Hume that enable participants to connect with local opportunities, networks, and supports available to them

What we are looking for

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for supporting the mission of BSL and delivering excellence in your role.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who has the following key skills and experiences:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, community development, youth work and/or education, or extensive relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience working in an outcomes-focused environment.
• Strong understanding of the causes and impacts of unemployment, and effective strategies that support people to follow pathways into education, training and work.
• Confidence and capability in engaging and supporting people from diverse backgrounds, including people with different strengths, needs and behaviours.
• Demonstrated experience in career planning and guidance, including supporting people into employment, education and/or training pathways.
• Experience designing and facilitating group activities, workshops or training, including developing content and resources.
• Strong networking skills, with experience building partnerships with agencies, employers and education providers to work towards shared goals.
