THE ROLE

The Data & Reporting Analyst will develop, refine and maintain the data collection, analysis and reporting systems used by the Youth team. This includes integrating data from a variety of systems and sources to create insightful reports and intuitive resources that enable users to explore data and answer questions. The role will also support data analysis in evaluation and monitoring processes and contribute to the development of data workflows and governance to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

This position supports the Youth team in the improvement and unification of their data systems, processes and supporting documentation across multiple programs, to ensure a robust practice/evidence base for advocacy, promotion and funding outcomes.

  • Work with the Youth teams to understand data needs, uses and potential to support improving and evidencing our work
  • Extract, integrate, clean and transform data from a variety of systems and sources to enable evaluation and reporting at various organisational levels
  • Analyse monitoring data, using appropriate statistical tools, to provide managers with rigorous and timely assessments of their service outcomes, performance and quality
  • Develop reports that enable managers to interpret and distil insights from monitoring data, including from the Federal Government’s ESS system and the Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) platform, that inform changes to improve our programs
  • Deliver capacity building of Youth program managers and staff engaged in data entry and reporting through training, development of self-service monitoring, reporting systems and handbooks and guides

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

To be considered for the role and be successful in it, we’re looking for someone who has the following key skills and experiences:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and / or specialised training in a field with an emphasis on quantitative data analysis (such as economics, sociology or other social science, statistics, public policy, computer science)
  • A demonstrated understanding or capacity to quickly acquire understanding of the not-for-profit sector and the areas in which the BSL Youth team works
  • A minimum of two to three years’ experience in a related role
  • Demonstrated experience extracting, integrating, cleaning, transforming, and analysing data
  • Demonstrated experience reporting on quantitative data to inform decision-making, especially in constructing and managing interactive reports using business intelligence and data visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Domo
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using the Microsoft suite of programs, including Excel
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining business intelligence data workflows, routines and standards
