Botany Family & Children’s Centre is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Playgroup Facilitator to join our Supported Playgroup Team. This is a unique opportunity to grow and develop your skills and experience with the support of a friendly team. We need a self starter who can use their initiative, with creativity and new ideas.

The role is to provide high quality developmentally appropriate experiences for children, whilst supporting parents to build their capacity, knowledge and skills. The role is diverse and encompasses parenting appointments, group work (training provided), planning & development of programs and a partnership approach to service delivery. Using evidence based practice you will support and strengthen family capacity in the local community.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Plan and facilitate playgroup sessions for children 0-5 years.
  • Working from a Family Centred approach.
  • Passionate about children and improving outcomes for families
  • Participate in partnerships projects e.g. NSW Health.
  • Promote children’s wellbeing, safety and learning.
  • Develop referral pathways to other services.
  • Provide professional and informed advice on parenting and child development
  • Increase parental capacity, confidence and connectedness.
  • Facilitator training to deliver parenting programs

Essential:

  • Qualifications in Early Childhood Education – Diploma or Degree with demonstrated knowledge of Early Childhood Development.
  • Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable families, families from diverse backgrounds, Indigenous families.
  • Experience working with key stakeholders and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships to meet outcomes.
  • Experience in a leadership role and/or supervising, supporting team members as required.
  • Understanding of NSW Child Protection Legislation and NSW Mandatory Reporting.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, work collaboratively & effectively within a team to achieve shared goals and outcomes.
  • Sound computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, word and excel.
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current Police Check
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence. 

Desirable

  • Second language
  • Experience in developing and implementing community based early childhood programs.
  • Training or experience in the delivery of parenting programs

Remuneration

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, with attractive salary packaging options.
