Bloom is delighted to partner with the newly incorporated Aboriginal Community Housing Industry Association (ACHIA) and its Board to engage their first Chief Executive Officer. This is an identified role.
There is a need for a strong, effective and independent voice for the Aboriginal community housing sector that can represent and advocate for the sector, assist in building Aboriginal Community Housing Provider's (ACHP) capacity to achieve registration under the National Regulatory System for Community Housing, and facilitate elements under the Aboriginal Housing Office's (AHO) Strong Family Strong Communities Strategy.
Reporting to the Board, the CEO is responsible for strategic and operational business planning and performance, and the management of day-to-day operations, people and resources. The CEO is also responsible for ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and contractual obligations while overseeing the sustainability of the organisation.
As the CEO of a peak body an aspect of the role is ensuring that ACHIA best supports its diverse membership base. This includes sector capacity building and industry development initiatives, leading policy and advocacy development and being a primary spokesperson for the Aboriginal community housing sector.
The CEO must be able to build the profile of the industry and represent its interests through relationships with a range of external stakeholders, including State and Local government agencies and Ministers, other housing and homelessness peaks, finance and property industry representatives, and through effective communication and media strategies. A key focus will be working collaboratively with the Aboriginal Housing Office, NSW Aboriginal Land Council, other Aboriginal peaks and CHIA NSW.
This is an Aboriginal identified position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent pursuant to Section 14 (d) of the Anti-discrimination Act and Confirmation of Aboriginality will be required.
