Remote / Work from Home
You have an awareness of the issues faced by people who are blind or vision impaired such as accessibility, inclusion and impacts of discrimination.
You are a highly organised, structured, and relationship-driven project professional who excels at moving multiple complex parts forward. You understand that behind every successful grant milestone is a network of supported contractors, well-managed committees, and clear timelines.
You have a strong awareness of the systemic issues faced by people who are blind or vision impaired. You aren't just looking to tick boxes on a reporting template; you are driven by the real-world impact of building long-term capacity, peer support networks, and leadership skills within a community.
Collaboration and coordination are your core strengths. You can confidently manage external training contractors, support a voluntary committee (Engage), coordinate sector partners, while keeping internal teams informed. You respect intersectionality and understand how to manage diverse stakeholder expectations with empathy, clarity, and professionalism.
Blind Citizens Australia (BCA) is the national representative organisation of Australians who are blind or vision impaired. Our purpose is to inform, connect, and empower our community and the broader public. As a disability-led organisation, our CEO and Board of Directors all have lived experience of blindness or vision impairment.
We are a small, geographically diverse, and highly collaborative team dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of our members. We thrive on communication and innovation, and we pride ourselves on being a supportive workplace where we empower one another to "make things happen."
At BCA, we understand that our strength lies in our different backgrounds and perspectives. We offer a truly flexible working experience and support adjusted hours to ensure our team can balance their professional and personal lives.
The Project Coordinator is responsible for the end-to-end operational coordination, milestone tracking, and stakeholder management of the Pathways to Independence project.
Reporting to the Strategy, Projects and Advocacy Manager, this role acts as the central engine of the project - ensuring that external contractors are engaged successfully, training programs are executed seamlessly, and the voluntary Engage Committee is fully supported. The Project Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring all deliverables meet Department guidelines, are on track, and achieve high-quality outcomes for BCA members.
Training & Leadership Program Coordination
Oversee the logistics and delivery schedules for national leadership initiatives, including the Leadership Program (building current and aspiring leaders) and the Emerging Leaders Program.
Coordinate the engagement, onboarding, and milestone tracking of external training facilitators and contractors.
Manage the administration and support for mentors and contractors of leadership programs.
Peer Network & Branch Development
Support BCA’s existing Peer Connect groups and Branches to maintain regular contact, grow their reach, and develop their local communities.
Coordinate, distribute, and analyse surveys to current leaders to identify ongoing professional development, capacity building, and training needs.
Support the scoping, surveying, and establishment of new special-interest or location-specific Peer Connect groups, particularly focusing on families, carers, and intersectional communities.
Committee Secretariat & Consultation Support
Provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to BCA's voluntary Engage Committee to ensure effectiveness and quality output.
Coordinate committee meetings, manage terms of reference expectations, and assist the committee in consulting with members to develop BCA’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
Facilitate smooth information flows between the Engage Committee, and internal Policy and Advocacy Officers
Stakeholder & Sector Engagement
Act as a point of contact for blindness sector partners to ensure collaborative resource-sharing and avoid duplication of information.
Connect proactively with external organisations supporting intersectionality (e.g., First Nations, LGBTQIA+, and CALD disability networks) to arrange training and expert consultations.
Coordinate baseline and post-session evaluation surveys for participants and leaders to measure project effectiveness.
Grant Administration & Risk Mitigation
Maintain the project's risk registers, actively monitoring milestones to prevent delays.
Draft accurate progress data and compile evaluation metrics to assist the Strategy, Projects and Advocacy Manager with Activity Work Plan (AWP) compliance requirements.
Reporting
Actively contribute to the delivery of BCA’s Pathways to Independence program.
Complete monthly operational reports and ensure all reporting deadlines are met.
Administrative tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, data entry, and reporting.
This position reports to the Strategy, Projects and Advocacy Manager
