We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead our newly established passionate Strategy, Assurance and Analytics team as we finalise our ambitious Bird Conservation Strategy and embark on an exciting journey of transformational change to address the extinction crisis.

Job Description

You will use your leadership skills to work with Program Leaders in the Conservation and Science department to support them in aligning with, and delivering, the new Strategic Plan.

This position leads a strong professional Strategy, Assurance and Analytics team which will leverage partnerships and ensures science supports the effective implementation and evaluation for adaptive management of BirdLife Australia’s Bird Conservation Strategy.

You will do this by:

  • Working with multi-disciplinary teams to develop our conservation program portfolio, guided by the Bird Conservation Strategy.
  • Overseeing delivery of the Science and Research Framework to leverage our ornithological assets and partnerships to support the Bird Conservation Strategy.
  • Leveraging program partnerships to deliver outcome-based reporting, assurance and evaluation for adaptive management.

Status and Remuneration

This is a full-time position (1FTE) on a 3 Year contract. This role is based at BirdLife Australia’s National office in Carlton, Melbourne but other locations would be considered depending on strategic merit. Salary starts at $87,911 per annum plus 10% superannuation.

  • A relevant degree and post graduate qualifications with at least five years relevant experience.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, planning and team management skills.
  • Demonstrated influence and negotiation skills to gain agreement and progress proposals or projects.
  • High level strategic planning and management; budgeting and financial planning for programs, experience measuring progress against objectives, managing issues and overcoming obstacles to ensure program objectives are met.
  • Excellent interpersonal, representational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Valid Australian work rights with permission to work.
