About us

Launch Housing is a secular Melbourne-based community organisation that provides homelessness services and life-changing housing supports to disadvantages Victorians. With over 400 staff working across 13 locations, we want to end homelessness and are committed to creating lasting societal change to help those most in need in our community. In a country as wealthy as ours no one should be homeless.

The role

Our Daily Support Team is designed to work with people who are entrenched in homelessness, who have complex needs, and who have received support from multiple services in the past, but for whom a lasting housing outcome has not been achieved. The model seeks to provide early intervention activities for people who are newly homeless, and seeks to address ways to rapidly divert them away from ongoing rough sleeping. The Daily Support Team is accountable to the Council on a daily basis, and works to achieve a coordinated response to rough sleeping within the City of Melbourne.

Reporting to the Daily Support Team Leader, you will:

  • Respond to referrals for those sleeping rough and provide an assessment to determine needs and an appropriate response
  • Deliver assertive street-based outreach to people who are sleeping rough and have complex needs including referrals, assessment and advocacy
  • Assist clients to access housing and longer-term support
  • Survey people who are sleeping rough to assist with program resource allocation

To be the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in human services, social work or other relevant discipline
  • Experience of doing outreach and working with clients who have complex needs
  • Ability to use advocacy skills to negotiate access to necessary services for clients
  • Understanding of the homelessness service system and the issues faced by people who are sleeping rough

Our benefits

In return, we offer great staff benefits including a flexible working environment, free and confidential Employee Assistance Program, salary packaging, 5 additional days of wellbeing leave (pro-rata) and training career opportunities across multiple Launch Housing teams. The salary is $74,910 per annum + super + $15,900 salary packaging.
