About the role
- Shifts are worked in the persons family home. The available shifts will be weekday afternoon/ evening, finishing at 10.00pm. Some weekday and weekend shifts will be available during the day with a finish time of 4.00pm. The days will be negotiable dependent on availability.
- The ideal person will be able to prioritise competing tasks and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for regular engagement with family, allied health supports and other support staff.
- The person would like a worker who is friendly, funny, kind and caring with a preference for someone who does not smoke or vape.
- Support staff provide assistance with a range of daily living tasks that enhance independence, including light household chores, administrative tasks and meal preparation.
- The team receive support and training to assist the person to manage symptoms of mental ill health. The person also receives support to engage in social and community based activities.
- Attendance at scheduled team meetings, training and reflective practice meetings is a requirement.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Prior experience supporting people with Autism
- Level 2 First Aid and CPR
- Right to work in Australia
- Basic computer skills
- Strong English language skills, written and verbal
- Unrestricted Victorian drivers licence
- A reliable, insured vehicle
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation module
- A completed application form, current resume and brief introduction letter
Desirable
- Prior mental health experience
- Certificate IV in Disability, Community Services, Mental Health or similar
