Purpose of the Position:
The key role of the Finance Manager is to manage and oversee all general accounting/finance functions of BHCC Ltd. The role is responsible for preparation and authentication of all financial documents and budgets; and will provide expert financial advice and support to the CEO and Board of Directors.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide sound advice and expert assistance to the CEO and Board of Directors on making financial decisions and our fiscal responsibilities;
- Conduct in-depth analysis of financial statements and provide recommendations back to CEO and the Board;
- Assist in the development and execution of long-term financial strategies and organisational goals;
- Close attention to detail and commercially focused mindset to ensure the ongoing financial health of the organisation;
- Provide strong financial stewardship by ensuring transactions are recorded timely and accurately;
- In consultation with the CEO, develop annual budgets and analyse and review the financial performance against the budget;
- Prepare quarterly forecasts, including Profit and loss, cash flows and balance sheet;
- Prepare, manage and develop monthly management reporting packs and analysis to Management and Board;
- Oversee month end processes (including all account reconciliations) and ensure it is completed in a timely and accurate manner;
- Cash management, including cash flows analysis, accounts payable and accounts receivable;
- Introduce cost control methods and assist with balancing fixed and variable costs;
- Manage the financial reporting function for funding bodies;
- Assist CEO with financial requirements as part of funding submissions;
- Manage all requirements for annual financial audits, and to be the key contact for all audit inquiries and managing of the relationship with the Auditors;
- Key contact and management of the relationship with external consultants and accountants;
- Develop, implement, and maintain finance policies and procedures, ensuring all legislative requirements and accounting standards are met;
- Provide supervision and guidance to Finance Officer in all finance/bookkeeping functions;
- Ensure that all employee entitlements and deductions comply with relevant legislation, employment contracts, taxation, superannuation and accounting requirements;
- Oversee the preparation and lodgement of all other relevant required statutory forms;
- Oversee management of database, in collaboration with the Finance Officer, for all billed and unbilled milestone payments relating to government grants to be invoiced as well as all sundry income contracts;
Selection Criteria:
- CA or CPA qualified;
- Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience;
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working within a not for profit organisation;
- Demonstrated ability managing a small team or direct reports;
- Knowledge of relevant Accounting standards relevant to not for profit sector and legal obligations for a Public Company limited by Guarantee
- High level experience in the key facets of financial management including developing and maintaining multiple budgets, maintaining cash flow, overseeing creditors and debtors, producing financial reports and ensuring statutory compliance;
- Experience in providing timely, pragmatic and commercially astute financial advice;
- Demonstrated capability covering General Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, and Tax and Superannuation Compliance;
- Demonstrated computer skills, with intermediate to advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel;
- Demonstrated intermediate to advanced capabilities using accounting software, such as Xero
- Proficiency in and proven ability to make improvements to accounting packages;
- Demonstrated ability to organise and maintain accurate records;
- Advanced oral and written communication skills including: the ability to communicate clearly, professionally and respectfully with consumers, families, colleagues, other agency personnel and external stakeholders;
- Refined writing skills;
A requirement prior to commencement, is to currently hold the below:
- Blue Card for Working with Children and Young People and Yellow Card exemption
- Current Queensland Open Drivers Licence
- The right to Work in Australia
