Better Renting is looking for a new Treasurer who will be a critical part of the governance of the organisation, providing trusted guidance and analysis to the board on financial performance and compliance. The Treasurer will also work to support the Executive Director through answering financial questions, and support with financial oversight, in order to maintain strong and transparent financial processes.

Some of the key areas of this role include:

• Governance - supporting the board on financial matters through: analysis and advice on the organisations finances, reporting on the financial position of Better Renting at board meetings, advising on financial compliance, attendance at Board and subcommittee meetings
• Financial areas of focus - including looking at improving policies and processes, advising on risk management, investments, and assistance with the annual budget
• Administration & management - approving monthly payroll and ad hoc banking requests, supporting the Executive Director with financial questions, compliance and record keeping

• Have a commitment to and understanding of good governance
• Have an ability to understand and critically assess strategic plans, risk management plans, budgets and financial reports.
• Have supportive and collaborative mindset
• Have experience and/or qualifications in finance, accounting or auditing

Desirable competencies:

• Experience as a renter
• Past experience on a board or management committee
