About our client

Independent Community Living Australia (ICLA) is a community organisation established in 1987. Our core activity is to promote people’s independence, active participation and inclusion in the community to live a valued life.

ICLA is a mental health service provider and a registered Community Housing Provider. We manage a number of supported residential services across the greater Sydney region, providing affordable accommodation and mental health support for people who have psychosocial, intellectual and other disabilities. Our residential support services are funded through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). We offer a flexible and family-friendly work environment for our staff providing a rewarding service to our local community.

About the role

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of People and Culture will manage one direct report and be responsible for a generalist portfolio across the full employee lifecycle, as well as being a business partner and providing guidance on matters such as ER/IR, award interpretation and more.

This is truly a generalist role in which you will work both operationally and strategically, leading the human resources function internally and championing a positive and inclusive working environment.

  • Coach and mentor a direct report, enabling them to deliver on daily human resources functions
  • Have oversight over the end-to-end recruitment process and employee lifecycle/people operations (including performance review cycles, compensation reviews and planning, and legal and regulatory compliance)
  • Lead process mapping/process improvement projects, with a focus on training, learning and development - highlight and implement areas of improvement
  • Provide advice and guidance on IR/ER issues such as performance management, awards interpretation and more
  • Develop and maintain workforce strategy and planning around growth, retention, ICLA’s Employer Value Proposition
  • Collaborate with all levels of the organisation to contribute to the success ICLA’s strategy and operational plan, promoting a positive and inclusive working environment

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven generalist experience as a Human Resources Manager leading the human resource’s function, working with and at the executive level
  • Qualifications in Human Resources/related discipline
  • Knowledge of HR best practice, WHS legislation and employment legislation, including interpreting and applying awards, specifically the SCHADS award
  • A passion for excellent customer service and building strong internal relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Strong time management skills, as well as a high level of attention to detail and a passion for process improvement
  • The successful candidate will be required to conduct a National Police Check, and NDIS Workers Screening Check and be fully vaccinated against Covid-19
